Angkor Tour Highlight to Floating Village

Upon your arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide and driver and transferred to the city center for hotel check-in. Free time on your own to explore Siem Reap for the rest of the day before staying overnight in Siem Reap and prepare for your Angkor Tour Highlight to floating village. 

Awake early in the morning for the exploration, we begin to explore the so-called 'Tomb Raider Temple', Ta Prohm where the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was filmed in 2001. Swallowed by the jungle, the fabulous ancient Ta Prohm is well known for its otherworldly landscape of giant trees and vast root systems growing out of the ruins which makes the visit a unique experience. Next, we continue to discover the magnificent Angkor Wat that is considered to be the biggest religious temple still in existence in the world. This World Heritage Site owns the longest continuous bas-relief in the world which runs around the outside of the central temple complex and tells stories from mythology.    

Enjoy delicious lunch in the local restaurant. 

In the afternoon, we will continue to explore the impressive Royal City Angkor Thom and be amazed by the line of 54 gods and demons that create a dramatic spectacle beside the road. Then, venture to Bayon Temple decorated with 216 smiling faces which are said to bear a striking resemblance to the king. 

Later, we will take a walk around the complex consisting of the Baphuon, Leper King Terrace, Elephant Terrace, and Royal Palace area. Overnight stay in Siem Reap.   

Have breakfast in the hotel, then we set out to a stunning village in the rural area. Along the way, the scenic journey provides charming views of rice paddies as well as farming activities in the rice fields. Upon arrival at the village, you can stroll through the village houses, observe a wide range of locals’ fascinating daily life activities such as the way they wash their vehicles, sell gas in whiskey or wine bottles or how local people sell and buy food at the small shops on the side of the small streets.

It is also very interesting to sample some tropical fresh fruits, try a 30-minute old rugged ox/buffalo-cart ride and make friends with locals while seeing their rural local life. Walk around the rice paddies to immerse yourself into the natural scenery and amazing local life as you have the opportunity to watch locals doing daily work such as making rice wine, handicraft works whilst you are invited to try some fresh coconut and some homemade rice wine to savor.    

Get in your car for the transfer to the floating community of Me Chrey Village. Arriving at the pier, you will embark on a motorized boat driven by experienced and safe local drivers to start your incredible journey. The boat ride through the floating village will permit you to witness an extraordinary way of life of locals. This unique boat tour offers you endless photos opportunities as the boat cruises along the riverbank overlooking spectacular scenery. 

Afterwards, you will head back to the pier where your air-conditioned vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel. Have lunch in Siem Reap before spending your leisure time relaxing and more exploring. Staying overnight in this lovely town (Note: Floating community is highly recommended between September and February).   

After breakfast, you are free at leisure to explore Siem Reap until your driver comes to pick you up for the transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
